An M.2 SATA SSD is an M.2 SSD that uses a SATA interface to connect. It was designed to surpass the mSATA standards that came before and can be used with either PCIe or SATA interfaces. When used with a SATA interface, SATA M.2 achieves a maximum speed of 6 Gb / s – the latest generation SATA, i.e. SATA III. While PCIe may be faster, SATA M.2 is widely used because it is easily compatible with many different devices. Please note that M.2 SSDs are also referred to as NGFF or Next Generation Form Factor.
